Helen has been a practising Dog Behaviourist for 20 years. In 2000 she gained a Certificate in Dog Psychology, while studying with the Canine Behaviour Centre.
Alongside her Behaviour business, Helen also works for Haughley and Thurston Veterinary Surgeries as their resident Dog Behaviourist. Behaviour Clinics are run at the Thurston branch on Thursdays. They cater for dogs that need confidence building when visiting the Vets and for any other problem as a discussion starting point. They are open to all owners, not just those already registered to the practise. To book an appointment, ring 01359 232200.
Helen’s special areas of interest in dog behaviour are:
reading body language in single dogs and groups,
dealing with aggression in any breed
stress: the effects and the resulting behaviour
communication and confidence building.
specific experience with the rehabilitation of the following breeds: Border Collies, Gundog breeds, German Shepherds, Rottweilers and Terriers and Bull-breeds.
Continual Professional Development Courses on Behaviour are attended.
She has worked for many years with the West Suffolk branch of the RSPCA, with difficult rehabilitation cases.
Helen can be commissioned to complete independent bespoke reports for any organisation by individual arrangement.
Over the years Helen has taken on many dogs needing rehabilitation and has successfully re-homed them. The latest addition is 'Manny', a rescue Shar-Pei cross, found as a stray in very poor condition. See him and others on the Rehabilitation pages.
Over 200 articles on dog behaviour have been published for many local newpapers and magasines.
